Proof of Stake version 3 (PoSv3) is an advanced consensus mechanism that builds upon earlier Proof of Stake models. It provides a robust and decentralized means of securing a blockchain network while consuming significantly less energy than Proof of Work (PoW) systems. The algorithm works by having network participants, called validators, hold and stake the native cryptocurrency to participate in the process of validating transactions and creating new blocks.

In the PoSv3 algorithm, validators are chosen to create new blocks based on a combination of factors, such as the number of coins they hold (stake), the time they have held these coins, and a randomization process. This selection process ensures that the opportunity to validate transactions and create new blocks is fairly distributed among network participants.

Validators secure the network by staking their coins. The more coins a validator stakes, the higher their chances of being selected to create a new block.
