Blockstream Green is non-custodial and open-source and has not experienced any known hacks, exploits, or scandals. Blockstream Green uses encryption, PIN protection, 2-factor authentication, and a multisignature setup to secure user funds, with recovery transactions available through time-locked mechanisms.

Blockstream Green was created by Blockstream, a Bitcoin infrastructure company co-founded by Adam Back, Alex Fowler, Austin Hill, Gregory Maxwell, Erik Svenson, Jonathan Wilkins, Jorge Timón, Mark Friedenbach, Matt Corallo, and Pieter Wuille.

Blockstream Green can be accessed through mobile and desktop applications that generates and manages private keys locally while coordinating multisignature authorizations via Blockstream’s infrastructure. During setup, users configure a recovery phrase and can enable additional security through 2-factor authentication. Blockstream Green connects to Blockstream Green Desktop or Blockstream Green Mobile and supports hardware wallet integration for signing transactions.
