CChiliziliz was founded by Alexandre Dreyfus. The project has been developed to connect the gap between active and passive fandom, allowing fans to have a more significant impact on their favorite teams. Chiliz has raised funds through a Private Token Sale in 2018 where it raised $65 million at a token price of $0.0215.

Chiliz uses Proof-of-Authority (PoA) as a consensus mechanism for its operations on the Chiliz Chain network and can achieve 400 transactions per second with a block time of 5 seconds. A distinctive feature of Chiliz is its Fan Token Offering (FTO), which allows fans to acquire branded tokens of sports teams for voting and engaging in exclusive club affairs via the Socios.com platform.
