OMG

The OMG was created by Vansa Chatikavanij, the project originally was named OmiseGO but were rebranded/renamed OMG back in 2020. The project was created in response to the need for a much more efficient and scalable solution for Ethereum transactions, which often suffer from extremely high fees and very slow processing time. The OMG project was funded through an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) back in 2017 where the project raised approximately $25 million, which helped the project kickstart the development of the network. Am important milestone achieved in OMG's history was back in 2020 when the project launched their mainnet, the mainnet upgrade made their vision of scaling Ethereum possible and enabled its users to use the all of the benefits of its Layer 2 technology.

OMG uses a combination of a framework called 'Plasma' and a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, this makes it possible for the blockchain to achieve a high transaction throughput and low latency. OMG can process up to 4,000 transactions per second (TPS) with a block time of around 1 second, these features outperform the Ethereum mainnet's 7-14 transactions per second with a 12-15 second block time. The block time of OMG is purposely designed to be fast because it allows for near-instant block confirmations.

OMG offers several notable features:
