Toncoin

The TON blockchain was originally launched by Telegram in 2018 under the name "Telegram Open Network." It was founded by the brothers Pavel and Nikolai Durov who also are the creators of Telegram. However, due to regulatory challenges from the U.S. SEC, Telegram officially discontinued its involvement in 2020. The network has since gained momentum through community-driven development and strategic integrations, including ongoing collaboration with the Telegram platform.

Toncoin uses a scalable multi-chain architecture known as a shardable layer-1 blockchain. TON's blockchain uses a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism. Toncoin can process thousands of transactions per second, by splitting the blockchain into multiple shards, each capable of operating independently. TON also includes integrated components like TON Storage (for file storage), TON DNS (for human-readable addresses), and TON Proxy (for privacy and network accessibility).

Toncoin offers different features and utility across its ecosystem:
