Chainlink was founded by Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis. The creation of Chainlink was driven by the need for a reliable solution to bridge the gap between blockchain technology and real-world data. A significant milestone in Chainlink’s history was its partnership with Google in 2019, which brought substantial attention to the project. Chainlink held an ICO in September 2017, raising $3 million with the token priced at $0.11 per LINK.

Chainlink uses uses a hybrid consensus mechanism that involves decentralized oracle network and a reputation model to ensure data integrity. Although Chainlink does not have its own native blockchain, its decentralized Oracle network allows it to operate across multiple blockchain platforms. The network does not have a specific transaction per second (tps) or block time because it functions as a middleware layer, facilitating communication between blockchain smart contracts and off-chain data sources.
