Kusama

Kusama was founded by Gavin Wood, who is also a co-founder of Ethereum and the founder of Polkadot. Kusama was developed to provide developers with a "canary network" that makes testing and experimentation in a live environment possible. The project launched its main network in 2019.

Kusama uses the Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) consensus mechanism, similar to Polkadot, ensuring a balance between security and scalability. The network supports up to approximately 1000 transactions per second, with a block time aimed at 6 seconds. Kusama's design includes a central relay chain coordinating the network, while numerous parachains run parallel operations, optimizing for a variety of experimental applications.

Kusama offers several distinct features:
