Moonriver

Moonriver was founded by Derek Yoo. The project was developed to create a better integration point between Ethereum and Polkadot, allowing developers to effortlessly deploy existing dApps to Polkadot. Key milestones include the launch of its canary network, Moonriver, on Kusama.

Moonriver uses the Nominated Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism as part of the Polkadot network. Designed to operate as a parachain, Moonriver uses the existing Polkadot infrastructure for enhanced performance. The average block time is around 12 seconds. Moonriver's key advantage is its full EVM compatibility, making it possible for Ethereum developers to deploy Solidity-based smart contracts with minimal changes.
