NEAR Protocol

NEAR Protocol was co-founded by Alex Skidanov and Ilya Polosukhin, two experts with a deep knowledge in advanced topics like blockchain technology and computer science. Alex was previously a software engineer at Microsoft, while Ilya worked at Google (Google Research) as an Engineering Manager. The cryptocurrency was developed to address the common challenges of accessibility, scalability, and usability in the blockchain industry. NEAR Protocol uses a unique consensus mechanism called Thresholded Proof of Stake (TPoS) which uses a sharding mechanism they call Nightshade Sharding, which makes it possible for the chain to parallel process transactions across multiple shards. This feature makes it possible for NEAR Protocol to reach an amazing 100,000 transactions per second under optimal conditions. The block time on NEAR Protocol Protocol is only about 1 second which is low and results in instant transaction finality.
