OKB

OKB launched March 23 2018 by the OKX team, formerly known as OKEx, a subsidiary of the OK Group founded by Star Xu Over time, OKB has evolved into a multipurpose asset with functions extending beyond only having benefits for being used on the OKX Exchange.

OKB is being used on the blockchain OKTC to pay for gas fees, receive staking rewards, participate in on-chain governance. The OKTC chain is developed with the Cosmos SDK. OKTC has high-speed, low-cost transactions and supports EVM-based smart contracts.

OKB offers use cases within the OKX ecosystem and outside:

• Discounts: Users holding OKB receive tiered discounts on trading fees within the OKX centralized exchange, improving capital efficiency.
• Staking: OKB can be staked on OKTC to support network validators and earn staking rewards while contributing to decentralization.
• Governance: Token holders can participate in governance proposals on the OKTC blockchain, influencing key parameters and protocol development.
• Access: Holding OKB provides priority access to new token launches and early-stage projects via OKX’s Jumpstart platform.
• DeFi: As a native coin on OKTC, OKB is widely used in decentralized applications for liquidity provision, farming, and collateralization.
• Utility: Thanks to OKTC’s interoperability with other ecosystems, OKB can be bridged to other chains and used in cross-chain DeFi protocols.
