PancakeSwap

PancakeSwap and its token CAKE were developed and launched back in September 2020 by an anonymous developer(s). The project was designed with the goal of offering a more scalable and affordable alternative to the competing Ethereum decentralized exchanges, such as Uniswap, where gas fees typically are high and a major concern for many users. By using the Binance Smart Chain instead of the Ethereum chain, PancakeSwap has been able to deliver a much faster and more cost-efficient experience for users who want to enter and interact with DeFi applications. PancakeSwap gained a lot of attention and took off with some really impressive explosive growth during the big DeFi boom back in 2021, the coin and its platform managed to become the top DEX on the Binance Smart Chain and a favorite choice for many users. Another thing that helped the platform tremendously was the introduction of brand new, exciting, and innovative features like Initial Farm Offerings (IFOs) and NFT-based lotteries helped it rise to the top.

PancakeSwap is something called an automated market maker (AMM) and as mentioned above, is it living on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) where it is allowing users to trade BEP-20 tokens without the need for a traditional order book. PancakeSwap uses a technique called liquidity pools which are smart contracts that hold user's funds and facilitate all of the trades. Liquidity providers (users), deposit equal values of two tokens (e.g., CAKE and BNB) into these pools, earning liquidity provider (LP) tokens in return that represent their share of the pool. When users engage in trading through PancakeSwap, they actually interact with these liquidity pools rather than a centralized order book. The price of tokens in these pools is determined using a constant product formula, whose only role is to maintain a balance within the platform by adjusting prices based on supply and demand. Yield farming on PancakeSwap is a feature that allows users to lock up and stake their CAKE tokens to earn even more CAKE tokens, you also have the option to earn tokens from new/upcoming projects that have partnered with PancakeSwap. Finally, CAKE hodlers have the option to participate in important decisions through the governance functionality of PancakeSwap, allowing all users to vote on critical decisions regarding the platforms updates, new features, and other critical proposals.

PancakeSwap offers several key features through the use of its CAKE token:
