TrueFi

TrueFi launched in November 2020, founded by Rafael Cosman who has a Computer Science degree, and worked shortly for Google with Machine Learning. The project has had a few funding rounds: a Strategic round in 2018 at $0.0516 for $20 million, and an Undisclosed round in 2021 for $12.5 million raising a total of $32.5 million.

TrueFi uses a unique consensus mechanism built around borrower reputation and decentralized governance rather than mining or staking, called Proof of Reputation. The TRU token gives hodlers governance rights in the protocol, allowing them to vote on loan approvals, borrower trust scores, and other important protocol parameters.

TrueFi offers several notable features:

• Uncollateralized Loans: Through credit models, lenders can offer loans without the need for over-collateralization.
• Decentralized Governance: TRU hodlers can participate in voting processes influencing protocol changes.
• Trustless Lending Platform: The TrueFi functionality is built around open, audited, and secure lending and borrowing smart contracts.

Despite its innovative approach, TrueFi faces several challenges:

• Competition: TrueFi is competing with other DeFi lending platforms, both collateralized and uncollateralized, which presents a challenge.
• Risk Management: Uncollateralized lending poses higher risks that need effective management strategies.
• Regulation: TrueFi may face unwanted regulatory attention, especially due to its decentralized financial services nature.
• Dependence on Ethereum Network: Network congestion and gas fees can impact TrueFi's efficiency.
