Arbitrum

Arbitrum was launched March 23 2023 via a highly anticipated airdrop to early users and ecosystem participants. Arbitrum was developed by Offchain Labs, a blockchain-focused technology company co-founded by Ed Felten, Steven Goldfeder, and Harry Kalodner.

Arbitrum uses Optimistic Rollup technology to bundle thousands of Ethereum transactions into a single transaction, reducing gas costs and improving scalability. The protocol assumes transactions are valid by default (hence “optimistic”) but allows for fraud proofs to be submitted during a dispute window.
