Ergo

Ergo was founded by Alexander Chepurnoy and Dmitry Meshkov, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in blockchain technology. Chepurnoy, also known as "Kushti," was involved with the development of smart contracts for Nxt and co-founded smartcontract.com, which later became Chainlink. Ergo was developed to enhance blockchain usability for real-world applications while maintaining a high degree of security and flexibility. Ergo's funding comes from something called "Ergo Treasury Mining" which secures a small portion of mining rewards going to the treasury to secure future development.

Ergo uses a version of Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism called Autolykos, which is designed to be ASIC resistant to ensure decentralization. The network achieves approximately 48 transactions per second with an average block time of around 120 seconds. Ergo's platform is notable for its advanced scripting language, ErgoScript. The network supports recursive smart contracts and implements a strong focus on efficient cryptographic methods to ensure optimal performance and security.
