Waves

Waves was founded by Sasha Ivanov, a serial entrepreneur with a background in developing trading bots and neural network systems for forex markets and banks. The Waves platform was developed in response to the need for a user-friendly environment where blockchain development could be made more accessible. The project launched its mainnet in 2016. Waves also raised funds through an ICO in April 2016 raising $16 million at a price of $0.19 per token.

Waves uses a Leased Proof-of-Stake (LPoS) consensus mechanism. This approach makes it possible for token hodlers to lease their tokens to full nodes and receive a share of the block reward, promoting network security while being more energy efficient. The network can handle around 100 transactions per second with a block time of 60 seconds. One distinct attribute of Waves is its focus on ease of use, featuring a decentralized exchange that facilitates direct asset trading and a user-friendly wallet.
