GateToken

GateToken (GT) was launched back in 2018 and developed by the team behind the Gate.io cryptocurrency exchange, the project is led by Lin Han, who also founded Gate.io. The project was developed to create a dedicated blockchain that could improve the functionalities and services of the Gate.io exchange by making it possible to achieve safe and efficient decentralized digital asset storage.

GateChain is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible 'next-gen' blockchain that uses a Proof of Stake (PoS) algorithm to achieve consensus between nodes and to secure its blockchain network. The GateChain network is capable of handling a relatively high throughput, compared to Proof of Stake chains, of 2750 transactions per second (TPS) and has an average block time of around 4 seconds. GateToken's are primarily used for transaction fees and staking on the GateChain blockchain.

GateToken offers several notable features:

• Token Burn: Gate.io regularly burn GateToken's and has to this date burn over 151 million GTs.
• Buybacks: The Gate.io exchange is using 15% of the profits from currency/leverage/contract transactions (and new main trading products in the future) to repurchase circulating GT from the secondary market.
• Utility: GateToken GT serves as a utility token within the GateChain ecosystem, providing various benefits to users.
• Scalability: GateChain's blockchain architecture makes it possible to process a relatively high number of transactions per second.
