Velas

Velas was founded back in mid 2019 by Alex Alexandrov, who is also the CEO of CoinPayments which is a company that offers services such as cryptocurrency payments through its gateway infrastructure and the company also has a wallet feature. The Velas (VLX) project was developed because Alex saw several problems and bottlenecks with earlier blockchain networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum some of the most notable problems he identified were their scalability capabilities, which face some serious problems and challenges, especially if you want to do more than a simple transfer of coins. Velas unique AI-enhanced consensus mechanism was designed with the scalability problems in mind and is made to adjust different parameters for optimal performance automatically. One of the major milestones in Velas history was achieved back in 2021 with the launch of Velas 3.0, which introduced some significant upgrades to its blockchain network, these upgrades resulted in a big increase in transaction speeds and further improved the the blockchain’s scalability.

As mentioned above Velas uses an AI-powered consensus mechanism called Artificial Intelligence Delegated Proof of Stake (AIDPOS), this consensus mechanism is a hybrid that combines elements of both Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) and artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize its network performance. The AI layer helps dynamically adjust the network’s parameters, such as block size and transaction throughput, based on real-time conditions, ensuring that the chain has both scalability and security. Velas can achieve between 50,000 and 75,000 transactions per second (TPS) with a block time of just 1 second, the fees on the chain are as low as $0.00001 making it one of the fastest and cheapest blockchain platforms currently available. The project also supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) which makes it possible for developers to easily migrate any EVM-compatible application from Ethereum to the Velas blockchain with very little effort.
