Harmony

Harmony was founded by Stephen Tse, who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and has previous experience working with Google and Microsoft. The development of Harmony was motivated by a need to build a scalable and energy-efficient blockchain network that surpasses the limitations of earlier generations of blockchain technology. Harmony raised funds through an Initial Exchange Offering (IEO) in May 2019 raising $5 million for $0.003175 per token. In June 2019, Harmony's mainnet went live.

Harmony uses an Effective Proof-of-Stake (EPoS) consensus mechanism which allows thousands of nodes to operate at once making the network capable of processing up to 2,000 transactions per second (TPS) with a block time of 2 seconds. The project uses a sharding technology that enhances scalability and effectively separates transactions to reduce latency.

Harmony offers several notable features:

Despite its promising features, Harmony faces several challenges:
