Immutable

Immutable launched in 2021 and Immutable X as was founded by Alex Connolly and the brothers James Ferguson and Robbie Ferguson. It was later rebranded simply to Immutable to reflect its broader role as a Web3 gaming ecosystem beyond just an NFT marketplace.

Immutable is built using zk-rollup technology, which bundles thousands of off-chain transactions into a single proof and then submitted to the Ethereum blockchain. Immutable's architecture allows for high throughput (up to 9,000 TPS). The platform includes features like API-based NFT minting, a global order book, shared liquidity, and SDKs for easy integration into Web3 games. IMX is used to pay protocol fees, incentivize users, and participate in governance decisions.
