THORChain

THORChain is co-founded by a team of entrepreneurs and developers with prior expertise in blockchain and financial systems, including Erik Voorhees (CEO of ShapeShift), Jon Carr-Harris, and JP Thor . THORChain launched its mainnet back in July 2021, the project has raised funds through several methods such as a Seed Round at $0.02, a Private round at $0.02, and an Initial Exchange Offering (IEO) at $ 0.032, raising a modest $2.700.000 million U.S. Dollars.

THORChain uses something called a Tendermint consensus mechanism, which is a Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocol. This type of consensus mechanism makes it possible for the network to achieve relatively fast transaction finality compared to traditional Proof of Work algorithms, which is important when handling cross-chain swaps. THORChain can process around 100 transactions per second with a block time of around 1 second. The architecture makes it possible for liquidity pools where users can provide assets (liquidity) and in return earn yield.

THORChain offers several notable features:

• Earn: With THORChain you can provide liquidity paired with RUNE and become a Liquidity Provider to earn a single asset yield without RUNE exposure.
• Borrowing: On THORChain you can borrow against your assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum without interest, expiration, or risk of liquidation.
• Decentralized Liquidity: Users can trade assets across different chains without relying on centralized exchanges.
• Cross-Chain Swaps: It is possible to swap assets between multiple blockchains like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche and Cosmos.
• Low Slippage: THORChain minimizes slippage during trades, enhancing the user trading experience.
• Liquidity Pools: Users can provide liquidity to earn transaction fees generated from trades.
• Governance: Token hodlers can participate in governance decisions regarding the blockchain networks development.

Despite its promising features, THORChain faces several challenges:
