Pillar Wallet has not been involved in any major scandals, hacks, or criminal charges. Pillar Wallet is open source, non-custodial, and governed by PLR token hodlers through a DAO structure.

Pillar Wallet was created by the Pillar Project A.G. an open-source initiative launched by the Pillar Project Foundation and Pillar Project Worldwide Ltd, with development guided by a distributed global team and governed by its community.

Pillar Wallet is maintained by the DAO, and originally released by Pillar Project A.G. which is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland . Pillar Wallet has not undergone any rebranding.

Pillar Wallet functions as a mobile wallet that uses smart contract accounts and the Etherspot SDK for abstraction. Pillar Wallet offers features like cross-chain swaps, gas fee payment with stablecoins, automatic network switching, a unified address across chains, in-app fiat on-ramps, WalletConnect support, and a DAO run governance model via PLR token hodlers.

Pillar Wallet had its first public release around December 20 2018.
