Atomic Wallet is non-custodial and closed source. Private keys are stored locally on user devices, secured with passwords and recovery phrases. Atomic Wallet experienced a significant security breach in June 2023 where $35 million worth of user's funds was stolen, but no confirmed criminal charges or internal scandals have been reported.

Atomic Wallet was created by Atomic Wallet Limited, a company founded by Konstantin Gladych.

Atomic Wallet can be installed as a software wallet on mobile and desktop platforms. Users install Atomic Wallet App to create a wallet, generate private keys locally, and manage assets without external servers. Atomic Wallet connects to blockchain networks via built-in nodes, supports atomic swaps for instant exchanges, and allows staking through integrated protocols. Navigation relies on the device interface with password-protected access.

Atomic Wallet was launched in July 11, 2017.
