OMNI has not been involved in any major hacks, scandals, or criminal allegations. It is a non-custodial wallet, meaning users retain full control over their private keys. OMNI uses biometric security, device-based encryption, and recovery phrases to safeguard user assets.

OMNI was developed by Omni Ltd an organization founded and lead by Serafin Lion Engel.

The organization behind OMNI, Omni Ltd is based in Hamilton, Bermuda and operates globally with contributors across multiple regions.

OMNI functions as a mobile based wallet, making it possible for users to interact easily with various decentralized applications (dApps). OMNI supports a unified interface for assets across multiple chains and lets users stake, swap, and bridge tokens directly from the app. Private keys are generated and stored locally on the device, secured with a passcode.

OMNI officially launched in November 13 2021 under the name "Steak Wallet" but later on rebranded to OMNI September 7, 2022.
